At the Squad, of course we love all of our Dawgs and ignore all their faults but some are, well, just perfect!

Meet Cedar and Rusty – our two perfect Dawgs!

These two are just plain good, kind and gentle, get along with most other dogs, walk well on a leash, ride well in cars.

Rusty will lean into you for hugs and roll over for belly rubs. Cedar will gaze at you with knowing eyes that make you wish she could tell you her story.

Both have gorgeous coats;  Cedar is blue/grey with white blaze and Rusty looks striking in various blended shades of light brown and beige.  They are only about 2 years old but seem to be “old souls.”

What isn’t there to love about Cedar and Rusty? Nothing! Either would be a perfect addition to any family!

Please come meet them Saturday between 10:00 and 1:30 at Unleased by Petco in Ladera Center where Centinela, La Cienega, and LaTijera Blvds cross.

A Big Red Dog

January 29, 2014

It seems like we all have a certain type of dog that we are attracted to–some like little fluffy purse dogs, some like the show dogs, some love the bullies, and, well, the list goes on…

What type are you?   Do you love the children’s books about Clifford the Big Red Dog?    Is one of your favorite books or movie Marley and Me?

Well, then we have the dog for you! Meet Brody!

brody tongue

Brody is a big red dog with a personality to match! Full of energy and with a heart of gold, Brody didn’t know his own strength, nor did he know his manners. But thanks to the wonderful people at K9’s OnlyWest in West Los Angeles, we were able to send Brody to “finishing school” where he learned to be quite a gentleman. Well, most of the time, anyway!

Yes, Brody now knows how to sit, stay, and walk nicely on a leash, but he still is full of energy and has so much love to give. It just breaks our hearts that he doesn’t have a home yet!

Is Brody your kind of dog?

Then, please come meet him Saturday, February 8th at Unleashed by Petco in Ladera Center where Centinela, LaTijera, and LaCienega Blvds meet.

He’ll be there from 10:00 until 1:30 and would be thrilled to meet you!

It’s all about FOOOOOD!

September 8, 2012

Looking for ways to help homeless dogs, but don’t necessarily have the time to volunteer or extra cash to donate to the cause?

We have a couple of great suggestions!

We all need to buy groceries, right?  Well, Ralph’s has a fabulous program for their Rewards Card members! It’s easy to sign up–just go to Once you have your Rewards Card, sign on to “my account” and then select “community rewards.”  Select “Dawg Squad” and a percentage of your Ralphs purchases will automatically be donated to the Squad! If you have previously signed up and designated Dawg Squad, remember you have to renew your designation each September!

And, we all need to get out and have a little fun and exercise too, right? Well, Sunday September 30th, Dawg Squad is having our annual fundraiser, “Bowling for Collars!” This is always a great family event, with bowling, great food, and fun! So, come on out, spend an afternoon bowling and help dogs at the same time!

Also, just a reminder that our adoption events are now held on Saturdays at
