Bowling for Collars….the aftermath

First of all, a great big THANK YOU to all those that attended our annual fundraiser, Bowling for Collars, last Sunday!

We had a fabulous turnout despite Carmageddon and everyone had a great time bowling, eating, bidding on the great items in our silent auction, and winning some great stuff in the drawings!

I  saw some really excited folks when they found out they won such items as Disneyland passes, set tickets to Hell’s Kitchen, that fancy new Kindle, wine country tour, and that autographed movie poster!

I’m especially happy I won a free haircut and style from M Bird Salon, the wonderful people in Culver City that hosted our pet photography event earlier this year!

So, a big THANK YOU also to all of our sponsors who donated such great items and to our caterer Chef Stef that served up some delicious pasta, salad, and desserts—we couldn’t have done it without you!

This was our 7th annual Bowling for Collars event, and it really sets the stage for the coming year.

As a non-profit organization with no paid staff, we rely solely on folks like you to help us save dogs! And the bottom line is that it is expensive to provide food, spaying/neutering, shots, medical care; and if we don’t have a foster home for a dog, it costs about $21 per day to board each dog until they find their perfect forever home!

We’ve placed over 85 dogs in the past year, but still have some great dogs that have been with us quite awhile and frankly, we wonder why: Bubbles, Bayou, Dwayne, Oscar Lee, Kincaid, and Noelle have been waiting a long time!

And we always have new members of the Squad—I can’t wait to meet Caramel, Mumbles, a couple of others scheduled to make their Dawg Squad debuts in the next couple of weeks!

So, thank you again for making it happen! Hope to see you Saturday at Unleashed by Petco in Ladera Center located at LaTijera and Centinela. We’ll be there from 10:30 – 3:00.

Helen
